Siam University proudly engaged in the ASEAN Universities Exhibition & Forum 2025 (AEF2025), a distinguished educational event that brought together universities, scholars, and Southeast Asian students and beyond. Taking place at the Sunway Resort Hotel in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, from February 24 to 25, 2025, this forum offered a vibrant platform for enhancing academic collaboration, promoting student mobility, and creating global networking opportunities.

What is AEF2025?

The ASEAN Universities Exhibition & Forum (AEF2025) is a regional academic networking event that connects higher education institutions, policymakers, and students from ASEAN member countries. This two-day event aims to strengthen educational ties, promote student exchanges, and discuss the latest trends in global education. With over 5,000 participants and 90 exhibitors, the forum became a melting pot of ideas, opportunities, and future academic collaborations.

Malaysia’s Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, officiated the event, which concluded with remarks from Deputy Minister YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud.

Key Highlights of AEF2025

ASEAN Student Mobility Programme 2025

    1. A three-phase initiative promoting student exchanges and virtual learning.
    2. Online sessions from February 11-19, followed by face-to-face engagements from February 19-23, culminating in the AEF2025 event.

Global Exchange for Mobility & Scholarship Platform (GEMS)

    1. A global initiative to provide scholarships and exchange opportunities for ASEAN students.
    2. 56 universities participated, with 13 universities serving as host institutions for student mobility.

Special Programs & Key Activities

    1. 600 student leaders from ASEAN countries attended leadership assemblies.
    2. A Young Speakers Contest and an Innovation Competition encouraged creative and intellectual discussions.
    3. A 14-day hybrid mobility program hosted by Malaysian universities.
    4. Close-up sessions with Malaysian leaders, providing students with direct engagement with key policymakers.

Exhibition & Academic Networking

    1. More than 90 universities showcased their programs, scholarships, and research opportunities.
    2. Representatives from institutions across Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, and Timor-Leste
    3. Students and educators explored potential Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and Agreements (MoA) to enhance academic exchange.
