Siam University brought together students, academics, diplomats, and members of the international community to commemorate the United Nations International Day of Peace 2026 on 21 September.
Organized in collaboration with the Master of Arts in Peace Studies and Diplomacy (MAPD) Program, the event explored this year’s theme: “Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.”
The program began with a welcome and peace message from Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, President of Siam University, followed by the symbolic Peace Bell Ceremony, representing a shared commitment to understanding, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.
The event was also honored for H.E. Mr. Dhan Bahadur Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand, and Mr. Malik Shaheen Awan, President of the Thai-Pak Business Forum, who discussed the importance of peace, diplomacy, international relations, and cooperation in today’s interconnected world.
A particularly meaningful part of the program was the presentation of peace messages by Siam University students from Afghanistan, Nigeria, Sweden, Russia, Germany, Thailand, Syria, China, Uganda, and the United States. Speaking from different cultural and personal backgrounds, the students demonstrated that peace is not a distant ideal, it is a responsibility shared by people everywhere.
The event concluded with remarks from Dr. Cheol Je Cho, Director of the MAPD Program, followed by a video presentation, the presentation of tokens of appreciation, and a commemorative group photograph.
Through this event, Siam University reaffirmed its commitment to peace studies, diplomacy, intercultural understanding, and the development of globally minded students who can contribute to a more peaceful and cooperative world.
