From 14–16 September 2026, Siam University hosted Global University Student Network (GUSN) 2026 – “Global Partnership for Sustainability.” The event created a space for students from Thailand and around the world to exchange ideas, learn from one another’s cultures, and consider how this generation can contribute to sustainable development.
Participants came from 13 higher-education institutions, including Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Thammasat University, Mahasarakham University, Naresuan University, Burapha University, Rangsit University, Bangkok University, Dhurakij Pundit University, Kasem Bundit University, Southeast Bangkok University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, and Siam University. These 60 students represented 11 nations: Thailand, China, India, Myanmar, Sweden, Russia, Laos, the United States, Cambodia, South Korea, and Nepal.
The program opened on 14 September at the Auditorium on the 19th floor of Siam University’s Chalermprakiat Building. Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, President of Siam University, and Assistant Professor Dr. Marut Limpawatan, Vice President, welcomed participants and representatives from partner institutions. Ms. Pennapha Kanchana, Inspector General of Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, delivered the opening address.
GUSN 2026 extended learning beyond the classroom. Activities focused on cross-cultural learning, community-based learning, exchanging sustainability perspectives, and building connections among students, universities, communities, and organizations. The event’s objectives included broadening students’ global perspectives, strengthening communication and intercultural skills, encouraging learning about sustainability in communities and culture, and building international networks that can support future collaboration. Through GUSN 2026, students not only discussed the future; they began building the relationships, understanding, and shared responsibility needed to shape it together.

By meeting across languages, cultures, and institutions, we are encouraged to grow as global citizens, ready to take responsibility for our communities and work with others toward a more sustainable world.
