Funeral Rites of Princess Ratchanee at Wat Debsirin

On the 22nd of June, 2015, Siam University was privileged to be an invitee for the burial ceremony of Princess Ratchanee which took place in Wat Debsirin. Siam University President Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit accompanied by few members of the University staff, attended this occasion in honor of the late Princess, who had achieved so much during her lifetime.

Siam University student’ representatives were also in attendance at this burial. The University President and all attendees from Siam University paid their last respect to the late Princess by actively participating in a chanting session and other funeral rites organized for the diseased.

The President of Siam University, Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit at this occasion condoled with the Royal family for the loss. The death of the Princess Ratchanee called for general mourning for all Thais since she represented and carried a symbol of traditional Thai society. She will ever be remembered and honored by all especially for her simple, but exemplary life. She will also be remembered by all those whose life she had touched positively.

It is a known fact in Thailand that Princesses who are connected to the Royal Family are very well respected in Thai society. However, the case of late Princess Ratchanee was special within this rank, as she was notable for her Peace loving and progressive personality during her lifetime. It was therefore a great honor for the University to have attended her funeral rites.

However, Siam University family feels honored by a gesture of invitation to attend the burial which was extended to it by the Royal consortium. The University administration therefore wishes to express her unalloyed thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the Royal family for this gesture.
